Premiere Neige
A mere 5 months since it ended, the ski season is back!

premiere neige

I was very excited to add November to the list of months I've been skiing in and conditions were pretty good. We were at Sunshine and it still needs some big dumps to open all the runs but what's there is fine fun.

Some early season observations:
  • Fluorescent is back - and how
  • Baggy one-piece overalls are likely the must-have look this winter for fashion conscious snowboarders (i.e. all of 'em)
  • For those gentlemen snowboarders not sporting a onesie this season I have two words - "buy a f#!*ing belt!"

Giggity giggity goo-gle
OK so I'm a single guy. And I'm looking to meet someone. I'm also a Gmail user and I understand that Gmail pushes targeted adds to me based on its own computer magic.

I didn't expect this though...

giggity giggity google

100% free mind you...

Mens sana in corpore dunno
I'm in terrible shape! I've been a bit moby dick for about a month now and haven't done any exercise at all beyond walking to work. Now it's starting to tell. I tried to cycle a couple of miles to my friend's house yesterday and the hill nearly killed me! Even worse I'd gone there to play goaltimate, a variant on ultimate which, surprise surprise, features a goal.

It turns out to be a really fun game. It's probably a lot more fun if you can round around for more than about a minute without getting dizzy but I survived. However I'm going to need to get my aerobic act into gear now the ski season has started - first trip is scheduled for next weekend. w00t!

La vita e bella
Last week - Walking down Cheapside from St Paul's to the Bank of England. Seeing the sun flare off a golden dragon atop a medieval church on the street where John Milton was born and thinking - THIS is my home town!

Today - Back in Calgary, walking down 17th Avenue from Cafe Beano to the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies HQ and feeling excited about the season ahead.

Conclusion: it's all good :)

that jewel set in a silvered sea
I'm back from my whirlwind tour of tour of SE England. Lots of friends, lots of kids, lots of trips to the park: it was brilliant. Big thanks to everyone who found time to meet up, cook for me or house me. It was absolutely exhausting however so here are the photos and I may write more if I ever get my strength back.

Homeward bound
Very excited! I'm heading back to Her Majesty Tony Brown's Britain on Friday evening. I'll be in London from Saturday morning till Sunday 11th November. In the words of Spinal Tap, I'm there for a good time not a long time. I'll be back on my UK mobile 07967 038887
