I'm just back from an excellent week's skiing back in Chamonix. Conditions were a little grim at the start but more snow came, so much so that my planned assault on the famous Vallee Blanche off-piste route had to be put back a day. It turned out to be a very fortuitous delay: the next day we were treated to blue skies and deep snow which made it a perfect day to achieve one of my long standing ambitions.
