Unfortunately, if this was a chance to prove my hard-piping literary mojo this doesn't turn out so well for me, to whit:

"In a saucepan melt butter and cook onion over a low heat until soft. Add flour and cook for 2-3 minutes. Slowly poor in milk and bring to the boil"
